Binary fluid flow simulations with free energy lattice Boltzmann methods

We use free energy lattice Boltzmann methods to simulate shear and extensional flows of a binary fluid in two three dimensions. To this end, classical configurations are digitally twinned, namely parallel-band device for flow four-roller apparatus flow. The method the test cases implemented open-source parallel C++ framework OpenLB evaluated several non-dimensional numbers. Characteristic deformations captured, where breakup mechanisms occur critical capillary regimes. Though known mass leakage small droplet-domain ratios large Cahn numbers is observed, suitable mesh sizes show good agreement analytical predictions reference results.
